The Sandstone Trail for Better Planet Education: How did we get on?
On the 26th of July, the PIN team took on a big challenge: walking the full 34-mile Sandstone Trail in a single day to raise money for Better Planet Education.
It’s a tough route. Most hikers spread it over 2–3 days. We set ourselves the goal of doing it in 12 hours.
Eight hours and 21 miles in, we had to call time – some unforeseen circumstances meant we couldn’t finish the full distance. But that doesn’t take anything away from what the team achieved. It was a serious effort, and one we’re proud of.
A massive well done to those of the team who took on the walk:

This wasn’t just a walk. It was about backing a cause that lines up perfectly with what we believe in at PIN.
Better Planet Education equips teachers and young people with free, fact-based resources on climate change, biodiversity, pollution and more. It’s all about helping the next generation understand the environmental challenges we’re facing and how to act on them.
That fits directly with what PIN stands for. Our platform helps waste operators run smarter, more sustainable operations: cutting unnecessary journeys, extending container lifecycles, and getting more from the assets already in use.
So, while we didn’t hit the 34-mile target, we still see this as a big win. For the team. For the cause. And for everyone who backed us.
Thanks to all who donated, we really appreciate the support. If you’d still like to chip in, there’s time left to do it here: https://wonderful.org/fundraisers/R06qy
