Cireco’s Experience with PIN’s Damage, Repair and Maintenance (DRM) Module
By Scott Harley, Cireco
About Cireco
Cireco operates across Scotland, delivering a full range of waste management and recycling services. We manage two landfill sites and 11 household recycling centres across Fife, supporting both local authorities and commercial clients.
In addition to our main sites, we service over 300 community recycling points and operate an extensive commercial waste collection service throughout Scotland. Our fleet includes a combination of hook lift vehicles, skip vehicles, and RCVs, allowing us to efficiently manage collections, transfers, and recycling across a diverse range of operations.
Within our fleet, five skip vehicles and twelve hook lift vehicles support our commercial customers and recycling centres, ensuring materials are moved safely and efficiently between sites. Our operations are built around efficiency, safety, and sustainability, and supported by technology that helps us maintain visibility and control across every aspect of the service we deliver.
DRM
Over the last year, we’ve embedded PIN’s Damage, Repair and Maintenance (DRM) module into our operations – and it’s been a real game changer. DRM has transformed the way we manage our container fleet, giving us control, visibility, and a structured process for maintaining quality and safety across all our sites.
-
A Smarter, Safer Repair Process
Before DRM, container damage was often reactive – issues were reported manually, tracked inconsistently, and sometimes led to unnecessary downtime or even new skip purchases. With DRM, every stage of the process is now logged, tracked, and managed in one place.
We can quickly identify damage, allocate repairs, and monitor progress through to completion. That means fewer containers sitting idle and a much clearer view of our fleet condition at any given time.
-
Measurable Results
In the past 12 months alone, almost 30% of our container fleet has gone through the DRM process. That’s not just a statistic – it represents extended asset lifespans, reduced downtime, and significant cost savings.
We’ve also been able to avoid unnecessary container purchases, using DRM insights to make better, data-led decisions about when repairs are needed and when replacement genuinely makes sense.
-
Safety and Public Presentation
For us, one of the biggest wins has been safety. Many of our containers are used at HWRC sites, where the public interact with them every day. With DRM, we can ensure that every container that goes out is safe, secure, and fit for purpose. It’s also improved the presentation and professionalism of our fleet – something that’simportant for public confidence and operational standards.
-
Delivering Long-Term Value
DRM isn’t just about fixing damage – it’s about maintaining a high-performing fleet and making smarter operational decisions. The system gives us full visibility over repairs, costs, and turnaround times, allowing us to plan maintenance more effectively and optimise our container utilisation.

Recommendation
For any business managing a container fleet, I’d highly recommend PIN’s DRM module. It’s simple, effective, and genuinely transformative. It’s helped us improve efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver a safer, cleaner experience for our customers and communities we serve.
