The Problem
Around 60,000 of the UK’s skips and RoRos are damaged at any one time. It’s an unavoidable problem that has serious implications for the waste & recycling industry.
- Unavailable capacity that should be generating £150m+ of revenue each year
- The resulting need to purchase more skips
- Confusion as to which skips are available for use in depot, impacting operational efficiency and customer service
- Health & safety risks for colleagues and customers
- The lack of a clear process or system for damage identification and repair

The Solution

The PIN Damage, Repair & Maintenance (DRM) module provides the answer.
DRM is an end to end management platform for damaged skips that transforms control, minimises compliance risk, creates growth capacity and reduces costs.
Seamlessly integrated into the PIN platform, DRM enables precise, digital oversight of your entire skip fleet.
How it Works
- The DRM Mobile App enables damage to be identified and diagnosed via a simple interface and drop down menu. Photos taken and notes added.
- The damaged skip is removed from service. An email alert is generated if it is moved to a customer location.
- Nominated assessor allocates the repair to an in-house or 3rd party repairer.
- The repairer carries out the work, validates the repair with photos and brings the skip back into service
- Container inventory, damage report and asset register are automatically updated throughout the process, providing a full audit trail.
- The system can also be used to carry out scheduled maintenance checks, LOLER tests, repainting or rebranding programmes.

The Benefits

- Improve daily planning and service delivery via a real time view of damaged skips and skips available for use
- Minimise health & safety and brand risk by ensuring that damaged skips are removed from service immediately, and cannot be used on customer sites until repaire
- Create capacity by implementing a structured repair programme, bringing A1 condition skips back into service quickly
- Avoid purchasing replacement skips by prioritising lower cost repairs
- Extend the working life of your skip fleet by analysing damage and repair KPI’s
- Enhance brand image and reputation with well-maintained, professionally presented skips
